In 1925 on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences ithe factory was renamed after the academy's founder, Mikhail Lomonosov. Today it is called the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory (abbreviation LFZ comes from factory name in Russian - Lomonosovkiy Farforoviy Zavod). This teacup and saucer is in the "My Garden" pattern, often seen in autumn hues of orange and gold. Here it's presented in more spring-like shades of yellow, gold and white. Combining transfer design and hand painting, its abstract floral shapes dance on the scalloped surface of the cup and saucer. Marked as having been made in the USSR, this set dates from before 1991. In very good condition with no cracks or chips. The generous sized cup is 2 1/4 inches tall, and 4 inches in diameter at the brim. The saucer is 6 inches in diameter. Made in the former Soviet Union.
